Introduction
This Cookie Policy ("Policy") explains how Kinderpedia ("We", "Us", "Our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you use Our services. It applies to:
- the public website www.kinderpedia.co ("Website");
- the Kinderpedia platform used by schools, kindergartens, staff and parents after logging in, including app.kinderpedia.co and auth.kinderpedia.co ("Platform");
- the Kinderpedia mobile applications for iOS and Android, the app for parents and students (Kinderpedia Parents & Students) and the app for teachers and school staff ("Mobile Apps").
This Policy should be read together with Our Privacy Policy, which describes in full how We process personal data, your rights and how to contact Us.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They allow the website to recognise your browser between pages or visits, for example to keep you logged in. Some cookies are set by Us ("first-party cookies"); others are set by the providers whose services We use ("third-party cookies").
Similar technologies work in the same way and are covered by this Policy: local and session storage in your browser, pixels and tags (small pieces of code or images that tell a provider a page was visited), and, in the Mobile Apps, device identifiers and software development kits (SDKs), which are components from third-party providers built into the app.
Some cookies and identifiers can be linked to you, for example when you are logged in or when you contact support. Where that happens, the information is personal data and is processed as described in Our Privacy Policy.
Your consent
We only use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary without asking you first. These are needed to provide a service you asked for, such as logging in securely or remembering your cookie choices, and they cannot be switched off.
All other cookies (analytics and marketing) are used only after you give your consent through the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of the Website. In the Mobile Apps, analytics are used only if you agree when you first open the app. Withdrawing consent does not affect use that happened before you withdrew it.
The login pages of the Platform use the same analytics and marketing cookies as the Website, subject to the same cookie banner. Once you are logged in, and in the Mobile Apps, We do not use advertising cookies or identifiers. We never use children's data for advertising or profiling.

Strictly necessary:
Required for the Website, Platform and Mobile Apps to work: security, authentication, load balancing, protection against abusive traffic and storing your cookie preferences. Legal basis: Our legitimate interest in providing a secure service and, where applicable, the performance of the contract with your school.
Functional:
Remember choices you make, such as your preferred language, and enable features you request, such as live chat support or notifications.
Analytics:
Help Us understand how visitors use the Website and the Mobile Apps, for example which pages or screens are opened and where visitors come from, so We can improve them. Used only with your consent.
Marketing:
Measure the effectiveness of Our advertising campaigns and of the review platforms where Kinderpedia is listed. Used only with your consent, and only on the public Website and the Platform login pages.

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which counts visits without setting cookies. Videos from YouTube are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set cookies until you play the video.
Cookies and storage used in the Platform
The Platform is used by schools and by the parents and staff they invite. After you log in, it only uses strictly necessary and functional technologies.

Mobile Apps
Mobile Apps do not use browser cookies. They use device identifiers, storage on your device and software components (SDKs) from the providers listed below. The first table shows what the Mobile Apps collect, why, and whether it is linked to your account. The same information is published in the Data Safety section on Google Play and the App Privacy section on the App Store.
Some features and providers are available only in the app for teachers and school staff, for example video meetings (Zoom) and address suggestions for events (Google Places).

Location. The Mobile Apps do not collect or use your location. The address field for events uses Google's address suggestions, which only receive the address text you type.
Advertising. The Mobile Apps do not collect advertising identifiers, show ads or track you across other companies' apps or websites.
On your device. The apps keep a local copy of the data you see (for example messages and the activity feed) so they load quickly, plus your login session. It is deleted when you log out, delete your account or uninstall the app. The translation feature works on your device; message text is not sent to Google.

How to manage cookies and permissions
On the Website: use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer to accept or refuse analytics and marketing cookies at any time. You can also delete or block cookies from your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, you may not be able to log in or use some features.
In the Mobile Apps: you can allow or revoke access to the camera, microphone, phone calls and notifications at any time from your device settings (Settings > Apps > Kinderpedia on Android, Settings > Kinderpedia on iOS). You can also change your analytics choice at any time from the app settings. The app keeps working without these permissions, but the features that need them will not be available. You can ask for your account and its data to be deleted at any time from My Account.
Third-party providers and international transfers
The third-party providers listed above process data on Our behalf or as independent controllers under their own privacy policies. Some of them are established outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where that is the case, transfers are protected by the European Commission's adequacy decisions (including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework) or by Standard Contractual Clauses. More details are available in Our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this Policy
We review this Policy whenever We add or remove a cookie, SDK or provider, and at least once a year. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated.
